Cabell libraries given opioid reversal kits, inventor Murphy honored by city

HUNTINGTON — Huntington native Joe Murphy, inventor of the Opioid Naloxone Emergency Box (ONEBox), was honored by Mayor Steve Williams Thursday at the Cabell County Library.


Williams presented a proclamation honoring Murphy for his work in combating the overdose crisis in his hometown and throughout the country, and in recognition of Murphy’s contributions to the Huntington community, Williams proclaimed Aug. 10, 2023, to be “Joe Murphy Day.”
